"The swallow knows its joy, and follows it absolutely, although it takes enormous effort to get where it has to be, the swallow presses on regardless. It knows that the journey’s end will be worth it."~ Unknown
I sit here at 6:22pm, under the pavilion in the village square in Ridgeway. There is a plethora of bird song, swirling above me, coming from all directions. I lose myself in this symphony as often as I can as this is right next door to my work/live/play space. It’s become a bit of a morning and then evening ritual when possible. Part of my balance.
The crows are close by. They stand out and fly over me as I write this. They are having their morning chat to each other all around. The rest of the birds kind of blend in together from all bearings; the grackles and sparrows. The seagulls are in the background, soaring high. It’s a blessing to cohabit with such a variety of feathered friends.
I came out here this morning to begin getting in touch with the swallows with the intent to capture them on paper. I wait.
I now see over my building, a couple of flittering dots, moving here and moving there. They fly in families. They seem like they are on a mission. Here they come.
6:45 and they have arrived.
Two flutter and swoop in under the pavilion, twerping away. "Good morning."
They go quiet and still all at the same time among the leaves, and then come out and play in synch. The feel of the energy connected to the swallows is similar to the feel of the pixie spirits who sprinkle energy on my head when needed. In fact, I am experiencing that sensation right now – like little flies walking across my hair line at my forehead.
Thank you.
They appear to be playing with the wind, dancing and singing – high vibration.

Swallows became a significant part of my awareness and connection with the Universe for the first time in May, when I was visiting a house on the Niagara Boulevard, helping to heal and cross several spirits who were left behind, before the new owners moved in. During this healing, I came across a situation where I couldn’t think of any other way to remove a belligerent energy from the basement but to call him on so he would jump on me and run him out the front door and outside. It was worth the chance.
Once I got out there, several swallows immediately began swirling around my head and then while continuing to swirl, lifted themselves gradually higher. As they did this, I could feel the yucky sensations lift from my body and mind. These birds were lifting the energy off of me!
It left me feeling tingly.

Then I received the message inside my head, "We are the guardians of this land. We are here to help them." I received a knowing that they meant the new owners of the house. And then they added clearly, "But they must ask."
From that day on, I began to notice swallows. And they were everywhere. I began asking around. Others had noticed it, too. It became one of those things that make you go, "Hmmm".
And I began to research the swallow. I read material from different cultures and different belief systems. Most coincided with each other. All of the information, to me, really resonated with our current time’s needs.
Swallows are thought of as symbols for: love, friendship, family, partnership. To the swallow, it’s all about dealing with, and enriching love and relationship. They call us to remember the things that we have done with our partners lately. Have we given them compliments? Have we done things for them as favours lately -- not because they told us to but because we wanted to? What is our general attitude towards our spouses? Have we been amiss lately or have been inflicting pain and remorse in them?
The swallow tells us that we need to be vocal about our feelings, especially love. We also need to accept change as the swallow is the symbol of hope and renewal, and even the resurrection from the dead. He shows how to think quickly, react appropriately and use the power of thoughts to manifest ideals.
Yes, you read that right; resurrection from the dead. During the earlier eras of our time, according to the Egyptians, Babylonians, Greeks, and Romans, swallows were also taken to be connected with the gods and souls of those who have died. The Greek and Roman myths, for example, had gods and goddesses who can transform themselves into swallows. The mothers of the deceased revered these birds as they believed that they are the ones who carry the souls of their dead children.
We are being called upon to see the world with objectivity (no judgment). We are asked to connect with others in community fellowship and learn how to communication in a group environment. Are you moving with the flow of thoughts and ideals? Are you working in cooperation with others?
It is time to renew the environment around you, my friend, and ride the promising air currents and tailwinds to stay above anything that comes your way.
So I suggest that you pay attention for the rest of the summer to the swallows, my friends. Watch how they move, how they interact with each other, and ask them what message might they have for you. And then quiet your mind and notice your thoughts. The message will be in there.
