Twin Flames: “….far from the fairy tale we wish it would be.”
For some people, “the point of no return” begins at the very moment their souls become aware of each other’s existence.” ~ C. JoyBell C. (Author of All Things Dance Like Dragonflies)
Twin flames. This term has crossed my path recently. At first I thought it fitting to write about this month since we are approaching Valentine’s Day. But as I researched, I began to discover this term does not represent a warm and fuzzy fairy tale story like we might think of when we hear the term “soul-mate”. Not at first. The term twin flame has only entered my world recently because each time I have read it in the past, I assumed it was just another term for soul-mate.
‘Turns out, I was wrong.
But after researching, I still felt a draw to write about twin flames this month as it feels that more people are experiencing their twin flame reunion, and after researching this phenomenon, it appears that people may not stand a chance unless they are aware of the crazy roller coaster ride called the twin flame reunion process.
The History of Twin Flames
Considered two halves of one soul, until recently, most twin flame halves did not incarnate at the same time, but took turns supporting each other through respective human lifetimes. Special purposes such as helping to maintain timelines, protect, enhance and increase energies, and move our world forward are requiring reunions on earth for the first time in history.
And let me tell you, these relationships are said to be the most challenging relationships we can have. And as I’ve mentioned, it also appears that in order to survive a reunion on earth, the two halves must be aware of what is happening to them.
So, let’s take a little peek at what is involved here, shall we?
The Twin Flame Reunion Process
First off, both partners have to be old souls. They often have dreams or visions of each other before ever meeting in this lifetime or right before they re-enter each other’s lives. Once they meet they feel a sense of “coming home”, feeling as if they’ve been waiting for each other their whole lives. When they look back at their lives, they can see illnesses, sabotaged relationships, or other situations that manifested because they were still waiting and still looking for “the one.”
They feel connected. They complement each other’s interests, passions and abilities. They feel each other’s symptoms, illnesses, and emotions even when they are not near each other or in communication.
Their unconditional love for each other has the capability of being like no other. In fact, each one is likely to have a certain habit, quality, or “baggage” that would be a deal-breaker to the other in any other relationship. However, they each can overlook it or willingly work through it with each other – no matter what it takes.
They have the ability to become stronger, more powerful, and more capable than they have ever felt. Their functioning is impaired or much less optimal when they are apart from their twin flame. It physically and mentally hurts when they are not together.
They have the ability to feel united in a mission or “calling” to serve others and the world.
Sounds glorious, yes? Wonderfully intense?
It can be. The capability is there. Ultimately, there WILL be a permanent reunion. Ultimately. Eventually.

It can be. The capability is there. Ultimately, there WILL be a permanent reunion. Ultimately. Eventually.
But until then…..
The twin flame reunion process is one of the most challenging, compelling, and confusing experiences for both partners involved -- and often for the people surrounding them. At first re-connection, it’s common for one or both to be in other relationships or otherwise “unavailable.”
When they are finally able to connect, in most cases, they find that the “old rules” that they used or relied upon in past relationships with others simply don’t apply to the twin. I think that alone would throw everything off. But it continues.
Since they are one soul split into two, they mirror each other’s issues and ways of coping with the world, however they seem to be quite unequally divided in certain, very important attributes such as sex drive, spirituality or levels of awakening, financial goals or successes, etc., Each twin may have very opposite talents or capacities, and one twin may have gotten 70, 80, or 90% of a quality which leaves only 10-30% left for the other. So for example, imagine how a twin flame couple’s sex life might play out?
The relationship has extreme highs and lows, including passion and intense pain like never felt before. It feels horrible and devastating when the partner’s words, actions, or reactions are negative in any way. They will “push each other’s buttons” and test each other’s limits like no one else has or ever will. The twin flame partners can go through phases of appearing cryptic, distant, scary, and unpredictable. While they can’t imagine life without each other, they can’t imagine living with that uncertainty and drama for the rest of their lives either. Friends and family members can’t relate to the twin flame dramas and try to get them to move on to someone or something else that seems more logical or better for them “on paper.”
The Runner
Here’s where it gets fun. (Can you hear the sarcasm?) At least one twin partner will “run” from the relationship. Runners fear being dependent on one person emotionally, physically, mentally, and energetically, as doing so makes them vulnerable to incredible pain, disappointment, or despair if the relationship were to fail. The runner may try to sabotage or set up strict relationships boundaries such as labeling it “just friends,” “just colleagues,” or “just another soul family/soul contract connection”. They will throw themselves in other endeavours to distract them or help them overcome the power of the reunion. If given lots of space, most runners will finally “wake up” to the significance of the twin and to the fact that no other partner, destination, or activity will ever be able to take the place of their twin flame relationship. The best approach to take – until the partner is truly ready to reunite – is to act nonchalant about the relationship, act happy in general, and be engaged with other people and activities. The more one partner moves forward with and enjoy their own life, the more the twin will want to be a part of the other’s life.
The requirement to “let go”
We are socialized to be independent individuals, feel in control, and prioritize our own survival instincts or “self-preservation.” The twin flame connection challenges all of these concepts and forces us to accept vulnerability as a sign of strength.
Although sublime and often quite magical, the reunion process itself is far from the fairy tale that we wish it would be!
Consciously and unconsciously, twin flame partners engage in behaviors that can seem counter-productive, detrimental, or hurtful – but these activities are ultimately meant to serve them both and propel their soul missions. The power of the twin flame connection almost always fuels and inspires very positive transformations for both twin partners. However, such changes are achieved through an extremely intense, trying, and often explosive path. Even the most confident, intelligent, and capable twin partners find themselves to be more emotional, illogical, and volatile in the reunion process than they could have ever imagined.
These couples have no choice but to reunite permanently sooner or later. No matter how many times twin flames break up or separate, forces seems to bring them back together. They see the signs and reminders of that twin connection everywhere, urging them back together. The decisions made may affect the timing and ease of the reunion, but the reunion itself is a given and non-negotiable.
So take heart, dear lightworker. If you are disconnected from someone who fits this description with you, it is not forever, but it does require you to look deep inside and find your part in the cause of the disconnect, without judgment, and then decide if you want to take the emotional plunge. If you are with your twin flame, I hope that you do find this information useful (and I do suggest you do further research: all the information out there was very hard to squeeze into this limited space) to help you endure your emotional roller coaster ride to your greatest healing and your greatest awards, your permanent reunion with the other half of your very soul!
Happiness lies within you….. make it happen my beautiful friends, whatever that may be!!!
